Edwards grabs fourth Nashville Nationwide win

By Lee Montgomery Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service LEBANON, Tenn.—Carl Edwards returned to victory lane at Nashville Superspeedway for the first time since 2007, winning Saturday’s Nashville 300 Nationwide Series race. Edwards had won three Nationwide races in a row in 2006-07 but went six races at Nashville without winning again. His four Nashville victories are tops among all drivers at the 1.33-mile track. “Was it 2007?” Edwards said. “That’s a long time to run poorly somewhere. Seemed like every time we came we won for a little while. Was it three in a row? Then all of a sudden, we came here and really struggled. That’s really trying on everybody. “I have to give credit to (car owner) Jack Roush, to Ford, (engine builder) Doug Yates, (crew chief) Mike Beam, the guys at the … Read entire article »

Nashville Encore – Kyle Busch and Dollar General “Duet” Again

LEBANON, Tenn. – Friday’s Bully Hill Vineyards 200 was the “Same Old Song and Hat Dance” for Kyle Busch and his Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based sponsor Dollar General. After scoring the first-ever win for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) in last year’s Nashville 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) race at Nashville Superspeedway, the duo’s remix sounded very similar to their original performance. Busch once again dominated the field. Starting the 300-mile race from the pole and leading 140 of the 150 laps en route to his second truck series victory this season and third in five races for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Hornaday Gains Ground in the Championship Points Battle After Fourth-Place Finish at Nashville

Nashville, Tenn. – The No. 33 Steak-umm Chevrolet team earned their fourth top 10 finish of the 2011 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season bringing home a fourth-place finish during Friday night’s Bully Hill Vineyards 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. (KHI) team had a disappointing ending as four-time champion Ron Hornaday fought to bring home the prestigious Gibson guitar that was on everyone’s mind coming into the 150-lap event. The one-day event included two practice sessions for the series which saw a delayed start due to early morning rain showers. Hornaday finished both morning sessions third fastest on the speed charts. Early-evening qualifying at the 1.333-mile D-Shaped oval placed the Steak-umm Chevrolet eighth in the night’s starting lineup. With the race under way, the veteran driver was … Read entire article »

Loose-Handling Truck Results in 18th-Place Finish for Elliott Sadler at Nashville

LEBANON, Tenn. (April 23, 2011) – What started as a top-five run ended in a disappointing finish for Elliott Sadler under the lights at Nashville Superspeedway. After qualifying fifth, the No. 21 Bully Hill Vineyards Chevrolet Silverado was off to a strong start, but handling issues emerged with less than 50 laps to go, relegating Sadler to the 18th position. Sadler quickly overtook fourth place when the green flag dropped, but by lap six he relayed to crew chief Ernie Cope that the No. 21 was turning too tightly in the center of the corners. Slipping to eighth place by lap 19, Sadler could feel that the concrete track was loosening up with each lap, but the truck still remained tight in the center. With green-flag pit stops beginning on lap … Read entire article »

Kyle Busch wins Nashville truck race

By Lee Montgomery Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service LEBANON, Tenn.—Kyle Busch survived a surprising late-race battle with Ron Hornaday Jr. to win Friday night’s Bully Hill Vineyards 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck race at Nashville Superspeedway. Busch had dominated the event until a restart with nine laps to go. Hornaday made a bold move to the inside of Busch in Turn 2 to become the first driver of the race to pass Busch for the lead on the track. But after another restart with three laps remaining, Busch got payback, slipping under Hornaday in Turn 3 to reclaim the top spot. He motored away for his second truck win of 2011 and 26th of his career. Busch led 140 of the race’s 150 laps at the 1.33-mile track, sweeping the pole and the victory in … Read entire article »

Last-minute sponsorship sends Logano to Nashville

By Lee Montgomery Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service Joey Logano and the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing team were going to skip Saturday’s Nashville 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, despite Logano’s having two poles and a win there and the team leading the series’ owners points. But a sponsor joined the No. 20 for Nashville only recently, and the team decided to continue its run for the Nationwide owners championship. “That is huge, because this team has been running good all year long and to let the owners championship points lead slip away because we didn’t have sponsorship would have been tough to swallow,” Logano said. “Times are tough now and everyone is having trouble finding sponsorships, so to be able to … Read entire article »

Success building trucks points leader Sauter’s confidence

By Jared Turner Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service In three short days, Johnny Sauter had two big reasons to celebrate. The first came on April 2 when he rallied past the always-stout Kyle Busch to win the Camping World Truck Series Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway. Sauter’s second—and even bigger—reason to rejoice followed on April 4 when the ThorSport Racing driver and his wife welcomed their second child, daughter Paige, into the world. Somewhat lost in all the excitement was that Sauter also became the truck series points leader with his win at Martinsville, a track where he’d finished no better than 15th in six previous starts. Sauter holds a five-point edge in the standings over ThorSport teammate Matt Crafton entering Friday’s Bully Hill Vineyards 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. More happy days could be on the horizon … Read entire article »

Superspeedway, Kyle Busch finds himself just two Nationwide wins away from tying the legendary Mark Martin for the lead in career wins in NASCAR’s second-highest division as the series heads to Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway for Saturday’s Nashville 300.
