Ron Hornaday Jr. wins at Las Vegas for 2nd straight truck victory

Daytona launches smartphone app
By Tripp Mickle Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service Daytona International Speedway executives know that navigating their massive 480-acre motorsports park can be a challenge, so they’re launching a smartphone application to help fans find everything from restrooms to concession stands. The iPhone and Android app will be beta-tested during this weekend’s Coke Zero 400. Fans who sign up for the app on the speedway’s website or Facebook page will be able to download and test it. The track is the first owned by International Speedway Corp. to create an app. If the test goes well, the company’s technology division plans to develop similar apps for the company’s 11 other tracks that host Sprint Cup races. … Read entire article »

Stewart Capitalizes On Strong Run At Las Vegas With Four Post-Race Awards
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite a runner-up finish, Tony Stewart’s No. 14 Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevrolet Impala was arguably the strongest car in the field during Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. His run propelled the two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion to score his first top-five finish of 2011, and four post-race contingency awards. “This Mobil 1/Office Depot Chevy was the baddest thing on the West Coast today,” said Stewart post-race. Robby Gordon Placed On NASCAR Probation For The Remainder Of The Year
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR announced today that Robby Gordon, driver of the No. 7 car in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has been placed on probation until Dec. 31 for a rule infraction he committed March 4 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
