For Gilliland, Top-10s Showcase Improved Performance at Front Row
Statesville, N.C. – Richmond (Va.) International Raceway won’t carry the speeds of Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, but David Gilliland hopes to stay full throttle at this week’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event after his second top-10 finish of the season. Gilliland’s ninth-place run at Talladega on April 17 gives the driver of the No. 34 Ford more top-10s in 2011 than some of the series’ 2010 “Chase” contenders. The finishes are also the first two top-10 results for Front Row Motorsports. Gilliland looks to carry that momentum to Richmond with a familiar paint scheme on his car. Gander Mountain returns for its second race of the season on the No. 34 Fusion. The outdoor retailer partnered with the team earlier this month for the race … Read entire article »

Gilliland to Drive Gander Mountain #34 for Front Row Motorsports at Richmond
ST. PAUL, Minn – For the second time in the 2011 race season, Gander Mountain is excited to announce that the outdoor retailer will be the primary sponsor of Front Row Motorsports’ (FRM) Sprint Cup entry. The Gander Mountain No. 34 Ford Fusion will appear at Richmond International Raceway on Saturday, April 30, piloted by veteran NASCAR driver David Gilliland. Gilliland Ready to Get Pushy Again
Statesville, N.C. – David Gilliland pushed his way to a third-place finish in the 2011 Daytona 500, and he’s confident that same No. 34 Taco Bell Ford can run up front at the Sprint Cup Series’ next superspeedway. The team will bring the same chassis to Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway this weekend that made a dash for the checkers in the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway. Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 will be Gilliland’s eighth Cup start at the historic 2.66-mile oval. He’s no stranger to the front of the pack there. He won the pole in his first race at Talladega (2006) and has a career-best finish of fourth (2007). Comments from Taco Bell driver David Gilliland on Talladega: “At Talladega, I think you’re going to see a lot of the … Read entire article »

Gilliland Takes New Sponsor and New Data to Texas
Statesville, N.C. – David Gilliland will be reunited with two old friends this weekend in Ft. Worth, Texas – Texas Motor Speedway and Gander Mountain. The 1.5-mile, high-banked track is one of the driver’s favorites. And, when he fires up the engine of his No. 34 Ford Fusion, he will once again be racing the red-and-green colors of Gander Mountain outdoor lifestyle stores. The company was featured on Gilliland’s car twice last season. The car will also carry associate sponsorship once again from TMone. The Front Row Motorsports team will arrive at the fast track with some valuable data in their pocket after a visit last week to Ford Racing’s seven-post shaker rig, a testing device that can simulate different tracks’ conditions. The information has … Read entire article »

Gilliland Brings New Approach to Fontana
Statesville, N.C. – Even though David Gilliland loves coming home to Southern California, he admits he hasn’t had the best of luck at Fontana’s Auto Club Speedway. But this year, he likes his team’s approach to the two-mile, low-banked oval and looks forward to having a fast Taco Bell Ford for the homecoming. Gilliland is a native of nearby Riverside, Calif., and raced the West Coast tracks of NASCAR’s regional series before moving up to the sport’s elite national series. He has nine career Sprint Cup Series starts at Auto Club Speedway with a top finish of 17th. With newer equipment for 2011, a powerful Ford FR-9 motor from Roush-Yates Engines and the experience of crew chief Peter Sospenzo, Gilliland looks for a strong run in Sunday’s Auto … Read entire article »

Gilliland Banks on Horsepower and Heritage at Las Vegas
Statesville, N.C. – David Gilliland can’t wait to get his Taco Bell Ford on the mile-and-a-half banks of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After taking a strong No. 34 Fusion to both Daytona and Phoenix, Gilliland now heads to his favorite type of track sitting 10th in championship points, eager to see what his upgraded cars and new Ford FR9 engine can accomplish in Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 400. This weekend the No. 34 Fusion will carry a decal honoring a driver who sported the same number several decades ago. NASCAR will honor trailblazer Wendell Scott – the first African-American to win a Sprint Cup race – this weekend at Las Vegas on the 50th anniversary of his first career start. Gilliland Carries Daytona Momentum to Phoenix
Statesville, N.C. – David Gilliland promises that his third-place finish in the Daytona 500 was not a fluke. After plowing through the pack in a fast No. 34 Taco Bell Ford last Sunday, Gilliland confidently predicted that Front Row Motorsports would be the most improved team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in 2011. As impressive as his performance was in the season opener, he believes his car for the second race at Phoenix International Raceway is just as strong. Ironically, it was a crash at the Phoenix track that helped pave the way to his future success in NASCAR. Gilliland crashed out of the Nationwide race in 2006 racing into the top-10 in the closing laps for a new team. That finish gave Gilliland … Read entire article »
