Almirola aims to seal his season with another win in this week’s Ford 200. The No. 51 team has competed at Homestead-Miami Speedway three times. Almirola in no mood to give up trucks title fight
By Jared Turner Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service All but written off in his quest for the Camping World Truck Series title, Aric Almirola was already an inspired driver before last weekend’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. The way that race ended, with Kyle Busch nipping Almirola by .002 seconds to the finish line with a questionable move, only added more fuel to Almirola’s fire. If the Billy Ballew Motorsports driver’s extra motivation carries over into Friday night’s WinStar World Casino 350k at Texas Motor Speedway, his competitors could be in trouble. Looking to keep the championship fight alive at least one more week after cutting into Todd Bodine’s sizeable cushion at Talladega, Almirola has every reason to go all out at TMS. The 26-year-old is also still a little miffed about NASCAR’s decision not to penalize … Read entire article »

Busch edges Almirola in Talladega photo finish
By Reid Spencer Sporting News NASCAR Wire Service TALLADEGA, Ala.—Kyle Busch surged past Aric Almirola a fraction of a second before the two drivers reached the finish line to win Saturday’s Mountain Dew 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway. The victory was Busch’s sixth in 13 starts in the series this year, his second at Talladega and the 22nd of his career. Johnny Sauter ran third, followed by Matt Crafton and Ricky Carmichael. Busch’s margin of victory of .002 seconds tied Ricky Craven’s Cup win over Kurt Busch, Kyle’s brother, at Darlington in 2003 for the closest finish in any of NASCAR’s top three series since the introduction of electronic timing and scoring in 1993. Chris Fontaine held the lead when Norm Benning’s No. 57 stalled on the track to cause … Read entire article »

Aric Almirola will drive the No. 9 RPM Ford at Martinsville this weekend. Almirola had been slated to drive the No. 83 Toyota for Red Bull Racing, but it now appears likely that Kahne will make his debut with Red Bull earlier than planned, if details can be worked out in time for this weekend’s Tums Fast Relief 500 at the .526-mile short track. In April, Kahne had announced he was leaving RPM at the end of the 2010 season and had signed with Hendrick Motorsports to drive the No. 5 Chevrolet in 2012 and beyond.
