Kurt Busch Foundation To Host Race for the Kids Event
LAS VEGAS, NV – 2004 NASCAR Champion and Las Vegas native Kurt Busch will host the inaugural Race for the Kids benefitting the Kurt Busch Foundation on February 26, 2009.
Participants will compete side-by-side in a celebrity endurance kart race featuring some of NASCAR’s finest drivers and celebrities. Jamie McMurray, Sam Hornish Jr., David Stremme and Jamie Little are scheduled to attend and race in the charity event along other drivers to be announced.
“The Race for the Kids is an event I have always wanted to put on and it means a lot to me to be able to raise some money for kids while doing something I love – racing and competing,” says Busch. “Pole Position Raceway is the perfect venue for this type of event.”
The event is open to team or individual entries. There will be a total of 12 teams, each paired with a NASCAR celebrity. The one-hour endurance competition is a team relay race in Pole Position Raceway’s featured electric race karts; which can race up to 45MPH.
“The racing should be very competitive, bragging rights are up for grabs and of course I am going to try to bring the title to my team,” says Busch.
Sponsors for the event include Pole Position Raceway, Sudden Impact Auto Body, Integrity Dodge, FOX5, KOMP 92.3 and ESPN Radio.
“We have been amazed by the support of our sponsors in the inaugural year,” said Busch. “We plan to make this event one which all the drivers will want to come back for year after year.”
The race is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm and should conclude shortly after 8:00pm. Participants will have a private meet and greet with Busch, a reception after the race, a gift bag and other amenities. Registration for a team of 4 participants is $2,000, while a single registration is $500.
