CHARLOTTE, N.C. – “Hang a left.” “Park it. We’re here.” and “You drive, I’ll ride shotgun.” are among the many Dale Earnhardt Jr. phrases that drivers can hear when they use The Spotter GPS Navigator, Dale Jr. Edition.
NASCAR and Transplant GPS, in conjunction with JR Motorsports, today announced the introduction of the Spotter™ GPS Navigator, Dale Jr. Edition, the latest in Global Positioning System products featuring Earnhardt, one of the most popular NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers.
The Spotter GPS Navigator launched with a pre-sale opportunity on Amazon.com on April 14 and will be available at retail locations nationwide and NASCAR.COM Superstore on May 15. BestBuy.com, NASCAR.COM Superstore, ShopJRNation.com and RightWayGPS.com also are taking pre-sale orders.
The Spotter possesses all the features standard in a high quality personal navigation device (PND) but sets itself apart from other devices in that it was designed specifically for NASCAR fans. The Spotter provides pre-loaded points of interest unique to NASCAR, including NASCAR tracks, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race shops and other NASCAR attractions.
The device provides turn-by-turn directions in Earnhardt’s voice and unique style, including such commands as “hang a left”, “park it. We’re here” and “You drive, I’ll ride shotgun.” The Spotter offers users a selection of vehicles for the GPS pointer, including Earnhardt’s No. 88 AMP Energy Chevrolet, No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet or his Team Hauler.
The Spotter also includes street name turn-by-turn guidance; 4.3-inch high resolution LCD with anti-glare screen; SiRF Atlas III GPS Module with Windows CE 5.0 Operating System; pre-loaded maps of the United States from Navteq (Q4 2008 map data); plus a video player, music player, photo viewing and E-book capabilities.
“The Spotter GPS is unique and innovative and will resonate well with our loyal NASCAR fan base,” said Blake Davidson, managing director for licensed product for NASCAR. “Dale Earnhardt Jr. has such a strong following in our sport and his personal touch on this GPS creates a great connection between the driver and the fan.”
