Johnny Sauter Ready to Finally Race in 2010

Johnny SauterSandusky, Oh. (March 1, 2010) — Johnny Sauter is ready to finally get his chance to race in 2010 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season. Sauter was swept up in a multi-truck crash on the opening lap of the season-opening race at Daytona and was unable to complete a lap as a result. After a couple of off-weeks to regroup, Sauter and his Joe Shear, Jr.-led crew are ready to return with a vengeance. In the final four races on 1.5-mile speedways during the 2009 season, Sauter racked up four top-ten finishes including a dominant win at Las Vegas.

For the second consecutive race, ThorSport Racing will partner with Easy Transitional Cabinetry’s etc. brand cabinets and Southern Candle, Inc. Both companies will be featuring their websites, EasytoInstall.com and southerncandle.com. etc will be on the hood and quarter panels of the No. 13 Chevrolet, while SouthernCandle.com will be displayed on the tailgate. Curb Records recording artist Tim McGraw and his new album Southern Voice, as well as 94.9 “The Bull,” will be displayed on the bed cover.

How anxious are you to finally get a chance to go race the No. 13 truck after what happened in Daytona?
“You’re only as good as your last race in this business, so I am really anxious to get there. We all look at restrictor plate-style racing knowing it can either be really good for you or really bad, and unfortunately we got the raw end of the deal down there. But I like racing at Atlanta and I know we have a good truck. It’s the same truck we had at Las Vegas when we won last year and the guys have worked all winter and have made it even better. It went to the wind tunnel on Monday so we should be ready to go as soon as practice starts.”

You and your team performed extremely well at the intermediate tracks in the second half of 2009; what type of advantage does that give you heading into Atlanta this weekend?
“It’s a big boost knowing we have a truck that’s capable of winning. The guys worked all winter on making it even better too. We know what shocks and springs we want to try, and the only real variable is the tire Goodyear is bringing is a little different. We’ll work on getting the tire data we need during practice and I think we’ll be as competitive during the race as we were on the mile and a half tracks last season. After the way we started the season I can’t wait to get back in the truck and go show what the No. 13 team is capable of.”

Sauter at Atlanta: Johnny Sauter has eleven previous NASCAR starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway: three in the Sprint Cup Series, seven in the Nationwide Series, and one in the Camping World Truck Series. His best finish was in the NNS, a tenth-place finish in March 2002. Last year he finished 18th in his Camping World Truck Series debut at the 1.54-mile quad-oval.
