After missing last year’s Daytona 500, Wood Brothers Racing rebounded over the weekend as Bill Elliott and the No. 21 Motorcraft Fusion turned the fastest qualifying lap among Ford teams. Elliott finished fifth overall, but was first among teams that finished outside the top 35 last year, meaning the team is locked in for Sunday’s Daytona 500.

The season opening Nextra Energy 250 will kick off the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. It will be the first race with a sponsor other than Craftsman since the series inception in 1995. For Chad McCumbee the race will mark a reunion with SS Green Light Racing; the 24-year old drove for the team in 31 races back in 2006 and 2007. The team has gone through a major rebuilding since that time and has very high hopes for a strong 2009.

Terry Cook will be making his 10th NASCAR Camping World Series start at Daytona International Speedway this Friday. He has scored one pole starting position, two top-five and six top-10 finishes in those trucks starts. Cook has also led 45 laps at Daytona in a truck.
